Open Farm Sunday is the UK’s annual celebration of farming, where hundreds of farms open their gates to the public. This year, it takes place on Sunday, 8th June 2025. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with the farming community, learn about food production, and enjoy a day out in the countryside.

What Is Open Farm Sunday?
Organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), Open Farm Sunday allows visitors to explore working farms, meet farmers, and discover the vital role agriculture plays in our daily lives. Each participating farm offers unique experiences, ranging from machinery displays and tractor rides to nature walks and interactive workshops.
Activities to Look Forward To
While each farm’s offerings may vary, here are some common activities you might encounter:
Tractor and Trailer Rides: Experience the farm from a new perspective.
Animal Encounters: Meet cows, sheep, pigs, and more.
Farm Walks: Guided tours highlighting crops, wildlife, and sustainable practices.
Children’s Activities: Crafts, scavenger hunts, and educational games.
Demonstrations: Sheep shearing, milking, and machinery showcases.
Local Produce: Sample and purchase fresh farm products.
For instance, Spitalfields City Farm in London will feature sheep shearing, heritage craft demonstrations, children’s activities, market stalls, and food offerings.
